I tried LOTS of stuff, to no effect...
The symptom: EVERYTHING looks normal, except nothing can be heard, like it would happen if your speaker was turned off... The output of everything (even osstest, except for the actual audio) is fine. Also I am sure that all the speakers tested are working fine (I tested with Windows, I have more than one set of speakers)
The story: I installed OSS4 once, it worked fine, until it expired (silly stuff...), also I had installed a new soundcard, so I re-installed OSS4 from source.
After installing OSS4 from source, I ran "osstest" and everything sounded WONDERFUL.
Until I rebooted, after the reboot, I never heard a sound again from OSS4.
Now explaining my setup: I have 3 soundcards, one is the onboard chip, it is disabled on the BIOS, the other is a crappy Crystal Fusion, that I use ONLY FOR MIDI (there are no other jacks on it), and the main (and mentioned new soundcard) is a Audigy SE (or something like that...)
