How do you get Debian to reconfigure drivers after replacing a faulty motherboard? A motherboard in a Linux system went faulty, so it was replaced, with a close but not identical replacement. Debian boots and then fails to configure the X-Server and possibly other peripheral bits.

Well, it's not strictly an OSS question, but:
If you're using a manually compiled kernel, you may need to boot from a generic kernel for a while (Then maybe verify which drivers are used and recompile if you must).
Make sure xserver-xorg-video-all and xserver-xorg-input-all are installed for now.
As for audio, if you're using ALSA a generic kernel might autodetect everything. For OSS, you may wish to run "sudo ossdetect -v" and restart ("sudo soundoff && sudo soundon").
That's about it. Hopefully I haven't missed anything.
