oss-devel build fails - bad option?

Postby Jack » Sat Apr 30, 2011 1:13 am

Code: Select all
ld -Wl,--as-needed -shared -fPIC -o ../../target/lib/libossmix.so ./libossmix_cache.o ./libossmix_local.o ./libossmix_main.o ./libossmix_tcp.o
ld: unrecognized option '-Wl,--as-needed'
ld: use the --help option for usage information
make[2]: *** [../../target/lib/libossmix.so] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/media-sound/oss-devel-4.2_rc1/work/build/lib/libossmix'
make[1]: *** [subdirs] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/media-sound/oss-devel-4.2_rc1/work/build/lib'
make: *** [subdirs] Error 1
emake failed
* ERROR: media-sound/oss-devel-4.2_rc1 failed (compile phase):
*   emake build failed

There doesn't seem to be any -W for 'ld'. And is the comma supposed to be there?

If that's not the problem, any idea what's wrong?

Thanks.

emerge --info =media-sound/oss-devel-4.2_rc1

You happened to use a very old ebuild for an outdated version. There should be a newer ebuild for latest mercurial (see topic). IIRC, it has -9999 suffix.

Cool, thanks. I didn't realize the 9999 was a version. Still a bit noobish with portage. :P

Emerged OK, now to start playing with it.
