Spurios signals from OSS with Audigy LS and Soalris 10

Postby deansalv » Fri Dec 29, 2006 8:13 pm

Hello;
I have and Audigy2 in my E-450. The sound works fine except the kernel is filling up /var/adm/messages with this:
Dec 29 11:52:49 ultra450 pcipsy: [ID 548919 kern.info] audigyls-2#0
Dec 29 11:52:49 ultra450 pcipsy: [ID 100033 kern.info]
Dec 29 11:52:49 ultra450 pcipsy: [ID 781074 kern.warning] WARNING: pcipsy0: spurious interrupt from ino 0x0
Dec 29 11:52:49 ultra450 pcipsy: [ID 548919 kern.info] audigyls-2#0
Dec 29 11:52:49 ultra450 pcipsy: [ID 100033 kern.info]

Here is the OSS detect output:
# ossdetect
rem_drv audigyls
rem_drv ossusb
rem_drv softoss
rem_drv ossaudios
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' osscore
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci1102,7"' audigyls

add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' softoss
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' ossaudios
# ossctl

NOTICE! This /dev/sndstat file is obsolete - use the ossinfo command instead

The driver seems to work fine except for the kernel messages wich stop if I use soudoff and turn on again as soon as sound is played but not right after soundon is executed.

I'm not sure what to do next?
Any help or ideas are deeply appreciated.

Thank you,

Dean

This is a problem with the Solaris Sparc kernel - if there are too many interrupts the system starts complaining. It doesn't occur with Solaris x86.

The Audigy2 or Audigy4 (but not XFi) is recommeded over the Audigy LS/7.1 devices. We are working on fixing up this problem in the next release of OSS.

Thank you Dev for the quick and understandable reply. You outfit is great. I have used your drivers for Linux and Solaris X86 also back when they had to be paid for. I'd still pay for them if it was asked for. When that new version comes out I see if it works and make a donation or pay for a license which ever is fair.

Keep up the good work!
