Postby Abayomi » Sun Jul 22, 2007 11:57 pm

i install oss driver on hp laptop running solaris 9 and everything appaers to work well because i hear the sound after the osstest but when i rebooted i tried to load oss by running soundon, this was after i tried to run osstest again but the response i getis to run soundon but the output of soundon is that one or more module is already loaded
1.ch(oss 4.0(build 1004/20070705234)
2.osscore
3.umix(oss 4.0(build 1004/20070705234))
4.sadasupportoss 4.0(build 1004/20070705234)
please how can i now get oss to work and is there a way i can configure solaris 9 on x86 to load oss at boot time, if possible pls give me a step by step direction my still at a learning stage in solaris .Thank to those will help a brother out of what i think should not be much of a problem.

Hi,

In Solaris 10 you don't need any special configuration to get OSS to start during booting up. For Solaris 9 you need to edit /etc/rc3 and look for modunload -i 0 line and comment it out. After that OSS will load up properly.

Postby Abayomi » Thu Aug 02, 2007 4:33 pm

i install oss driver on hp laptop running solaris 9 and everything appaers to work well because i hear the sound after the osstest but when i rebooted i tried to load oss by running soundon, this was after i tried to run osstest again but the response i getis to run soundon but the output of soundon is that one or more module is already loaded
1.ch(oss 4.0(build 1004/20070705234)
2.osscore
3.umix(oss 4.0(build 1004/20070705234))
4.sadasupportoss 4.0(build 1004/20070705234)
please how can i now get oss to work and is there a way i can configure solaris 9 on x86 to load oss at boot time, if possible pls give me a step by step direction my still at a learning stage in solaris .Thank to those will help a brother out of what i think should not be much of a problem.
