MIDI, audio sampling and SBLive drive

I wish to do the following,

1. Play midi files on an external instrument
2. Record high quality wave input (simulatneously with 1)

On a SBLive using the Livedrive connectors using either optical or analogue inputs

On solaris 10 x86

Yay or Nay?

Should be possible. Look at the /usr/lib/oss/sndkit directory for sample MIDI input and output apps. As for recording audio, should be possible to use any OSS compliant recording app (audacity/rezound, etc can be ported to Solaris).

I plan to use the javax.sound Java libraries to play midi and also to record.

I have had success with these packages on win32 and linux/alsa.

Do you know if anybody has achieved either/both of my requirements on solaris/oss?
