Terratec Aureon on Solaris/Sparc ?

Postby Jollyd » Sun Jan 29, 2006 9:37 pm

Hi,
My U60 is running Solaris 10 and I wonder if my soundcard is supported.
That is an Aureon 5.1 with CMedia 8738 chip (that works with Debian).
I tried the last oss drivers, the card is detected and appears as "configured:
CMedia CM8738".
but :

Driver (oss) successfully added to system but failed to attach

and at boot oss_attach fails to find a driver.

Is there anything I can do or is my soundcard unsupported ?

Best regards,

Aurelien

CMI8738 devices are not supported in Sparc. Only devices known to work reliably are the SBAudigy and Maudio 7.1 (or any ENvy24HT based device).

Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll look for one model among those you mentionned.
Kind regards,

Hi,

We just tried the CMI8738 in the new version of OSS v4.0 on Sparc and it works!. You can download the OSS v4.0 from
http://www.opensound.com/test directory.

Please be sure to uninstall the prior version (3.99.3) by typing: /usr/lib/oss/scripts/uninstall.sh

The new version is a Solaris PKG format - get the Install document from that directory as well.

Please report to support@opensound.com with your findings.

best regards
