I have just recently setup freebsd on my new laptop. It is an Acer Aspire 5102 with AMD Turion 64 X2.

I'm running FreeBSD 6.1 i386.

My sound card is

Hi,

Looks like some kind of power management fucntion hasn't turned on the device - can you check if the laptop works with the FreeBSD HDaudio drivers?

We're going to try and get a few Laptops inhouse because for some reason the desktops have no problems with audio.


Can you kindly check if running soundoff and soundon a second time fixes the problems?

We have released OSS v4.0-beta for FreeBSD AMD64 and i386. Get
the pkg from http://www.4front-tech.com/test/oss-fre ... -amd64.tbz

To install this FreeBSD pkg

1) uninstall the 3.99.4 version by typing /usr/lib/oss/scripts/uninstall.sh
2) reboot
3) pkgadd oss-freebsd-v4.0-160-amd64.tbz
3) run soundon (/usr/sbin/soundon) and then run osstest and see if audio works.
