Audigy 2 / FreeBSD 5.3 BETA#4 unsupported ?

Postby Guest » Thu Sep 16, 2004 5:48 pm

Hi there !

Some Audigy2 cards seem to be unsupported under FreeBSD 5.3 BETA#4. OSS fails to start the Audigy 2 driver.

pciconf output :

none3@pci2:11:0: class=0x040100 card=0x10021102 chip=0x00041102 rev=0x04 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Creative Labs'
device = 'EMU10K2 Audio Chipset (SB Audigy Series)'
class = multimedia
subclass = audio

OSS works just fine with Audigy2 on FreeBSD 5.2.1. We haven't tested 5.3 beta but as soon as Beta becomes Stable we'll fix the drivers. What problems do you get when you try to load the 5.2.1 version on 5.3 beta?

The OSS module loads with no errors (oss_mod), but soundon claims that there is no mixer device. That's all, no devices were created. if you've patches regarding this problem, I am ready to test them :D

Try this:

rm /dev/dsp* /dev/mixer* /dev/audio* /dev/midi*. Now try to
run oss-install and see if that works.
