crackling sound with ALI M5451 onboard-audio

On a IBM thinkpad 1300, I get bad crackling when any thing is played. I also get the message that "Sample rate was 36773.00 Hz (-23.39%)" or around that.

Any one know of any thing that can be done about this?

Is this with our OSS drivers?. I suspect that your IRQs are being shared with a different device. Try booting your system with ACPI turned off.

The problem is with both.

It turns out it happens when ever it is not at 100% cpu load. Not tried it yet, but it should be possibly of turning that off by turning off the cpu idle hlt... results in it running hotter though...

Not possible of turning off acpi, since it is required to boot.
