Envy24 + NVIDIA = No Go

Postby TheMonoTone » Thu Oct 20, 2005 4:43 pm

I read a thread before saying to update drivers and things would probably work, but I think there's still a problem. I have a delta1010lt card and an nvidia card, when I try to use both the nvidia driver and the oss driver, oss doesn't work and gives me timeout errors. It would totally be worth the cash to purchase a license if this works out :-)

I had the same problems using FreeBSD 5.4. After upgrade to 6.0 it worked fine... Until I upgraded my memory to 1GB. The driver suddenly fails to load without any other change in my configuration.

howdy...I just updated from 5.4-STABLE to 6.0-STABLE on my main workstation, and went from a nice working OSS setup, to kernel panics when loading OSS....
specifically, this is the output I get when I run soundon:
Code: Select all
WARNING: Device driver "

Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
cpuid = 0; apic id = 00
fault virtual address   = 0x400000
fault code              = supervisor read, page not present
instruction pointer     = 0x20:0xc074a868
stack pointer           = 0x28:0xe7930a1c
frame pointer           = 0x28:0xe7930a1c
code segment            = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
                        = DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1
processor eflags        = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
current process         = 911 (kldload)
trap number             = 12
panic: page fault
cpuid = 0
Uptime: 1m39s

I have no clue what is going on, I am having no other problems with any other software on this machine...

some info on my setup:
dual 1ghz pIII coppermine
1GB pc133/reg kingston sdram
Supermicro p6dle motherboard
Chaintech AV710 PCI soundcard (ENVY24 driver)

I am lost...and I thought I would ask here and see if anybody had some tips for me...thanks!

Have you updated the oss drivers (e.g. downloading for 6.0 instead of 5.4)?

I forgot to update them and ran into a kernel panic... With the 6.0-driver it loads fine (except for the nvidia troubles...)
