Hi Gert,

Just tested FreeBSD 5.3 on my Athlon64 with the AMD8111 audio chip
(uses the same intelpci driver as the Nvidia you have) and i got
no problems playing on /dev/dsp3. You should check to see when
you run soundon if there are any memory allocation errors logged
by OSS (type dmesg and check). If so run soundoff and soundon again.

Please file a full technical support request on our website with the
complete soundon.log if you still have problems.

best regards

**** UNREGISTERED VERSION ****

Thank you for installing Open Sound System

This unregistered version is FULLY FUNCTIONAL. All features of the registered
version are included in this package with the exception of technical support.

To stop this startup screen you need to purchase a permanant run-time license
The easiest way to order OSS is using the 'Order permanent OSS license' option
of the soundconf program. Alternatively you can order the license from our
web site at: http://www.opensound.com/order.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------NOTICE:

Your currently detected hardware combination works with the base OSS software
so you don't need to select any additional drivers when ordering the permanent
OSS license.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Warning: Some of the devices failed to initialize.
See /usr/lib/oss/logs/soundon.log for more info.
