Driver failed to attach (latest Solaris x86-pcionly-driver)

when I run # /usr/lib/oss/bin/soundon :
Warning: Driver (oss) successfully added to system but failed to attach.

The suggestion 'run soundconf' doesn't work: 'driver failed to attach'.
Any suggestions?

What device?
Also make sure that there's no other driver for the same device installed.

Ah, that might be the reason. I installed the drivers from www.tools.de/solaris/audio a couple of days before. I didn't mentioned that because when I bought the OSS-drivers for my NetBSD box two years ago OSS strictly advised to comment out all audio kernel drivers and to recompile the kernel. In the case of Solaris there is no advise regarding other drivers. Hum, meanwhile I removed all audio driver entries in ~/kernel/drv. But without success. The error message appeared again. It seems that the old driver is working somewhere and I can't get rid of it.

# pkgrm TOOLSemu
# reboot
...did the job.
