Intel High Definition Audio (Azalia) - 6.0 CURRENT

[sgwd]

I am not having any luck getting the Intel HD Audio adapter to work under FreeBSD 6.0 CURRENT.

After running soundconf and letting it autodetect the card, which it does without any problems, I then run soundon which fails. Below is the contents of my soundon.log file.

Any help would be appreciated. If I can get this to work, I will be purchasing a license.

We're still trying to figure out why - the same exact code works on Solaris and Linux installed in our Intel HDA mobo but not BSD. Sorry this is taking longer than we expected.

We just installed OpenBSD 3.8 and tested the Intel HDA driver and it works!!!!. Something wiered about FreeBSD - because the same code works in Linux, Solaris and now OpenBSD. I thought I'd give you a headsup.

I found the request dev put in for assistance to get it resolved. He placed the request a few months ago, with no responce, so I fear that it is not going anywhere on the BSD side.

Its killing me knowing that the driver exists, and that we're so close to getting this working but cant, I'm gonna see if I can push this through to the BSD team agaim, Hopefully they can help

As mentioned before, we have the HDA driver working perfectly in OpenBSD -and the OpenBSD code is the same (or similar) code used in FreeBSD so we're kind of puzzled why there is no audio.

So far noone from FreeBSD team has come to help. We are working on a totally new implementation of OSS v4.0 and hopefully when that is complete it will work - OSS v4.0 will come out for FreeBSD next year - which will also be the 10th anniversary of 4Front.

I havent heard anything from the BSD crew, although I found this on a list of active FreeBSD projects.

"Add High Definition Audio (HDA) support to our sound system"

Not sure if the first two relate to our problem, but obviously the last one is all us. And initial support for Intel HDA was added to -CURRENT earlier this week, which I saw through tracking source mailing list. Search the list for a list of device IDs and see if you would be good with CURRENT.
