Realtek HDA not working (FreeBSD 6.0 STABLE/RELEASE)

Postby Guest » Sun Jan 29, 2006 10:09 pm

Hi,

I have this soundcard:

none1@pci0:20:2: class=0x040300 card=0x10a41734 chip=0x437b1002 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'ATI Technologies Inc'
class = multimedia

Under windows it is given as: "Realtek High Definition Audio". My laptop is Fijitsu-Siemens A1655G , AMD Turion 64

I installed OSS and chose the Azalia driver,but it just can't detect the soundcard.

Any ideas ?

OK we have now added the IDs to our database. Please update the drivers using /usr/lib/oss/bin/ossupdate and see if this works.

Hi,

Thanks. OSS now detects my soundcard, but after executing soundon, i get the following message:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
No driver found for 'HDAUDIO'.
It's probably not available for this operating system yet.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm using out of the box FreeBSD 6.0 RELEASE. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi,

Can you run ossupdate and tell me if that helped?. We had a small problem with the device database. The drivers work fine on our Intel based HDA device.

Hi,

Thanks. I did the update and it doesn't find any new updates :

./ossupdate:

Trying from localhost
Trying from www.4front-tech.com
No new OSS versions available (200601300258/200601300258).

The latest version should have a buildid of 200601301817 so run ossupdate
or just download the file again.

Hi,

i did run the ossupdate several times, and also fetched the package again , but it's always getting the older version, not the one that you wrote (with id 200601301817). I'm talking about the AMD64 release just to mention it . Thanks.

Hi,

OK thanks, the AMD64 version is now updated as well. We had a problem with that distribution and it's been corrected now.

Please run ossupdate.

Hi,

Thanks. The driver is loaded successfully now, but when i try to play something i get the following :

Jan 31 02:02:51 freebsd kernel: OSS HDA: Output timed out on /dev/dsp0.
Jan 31 02:02:56 freebsd last message repeated 4 times
Jan 31 02:02:57 freebsd kernel: oss: Output timed out (sync) on device 0

This is also shown in the logs as soon as the driver is loaded. Are there any settings i can set in order to fix this ? Thanks in advance. If any log/conf is needed , i will post.
