oss 4.0 beta 158crashes on Solaris 10 1/06 amd64

Postby solaris_user » Sun Jun 11, 2006 6:33 pm

hello,
i have a sun ultra 20 with Nvidia nforce4 audio card.
Until today, i worked with oss3993d-solaris-amd64-v10-pci.tar.Z, but due to problems with ossrecord, i decided to install oss-solaris-v4.0-158-i386.pkg
After reboot, i test it:
- ossrecord works well
- xmms no sound!
then the machine crashes with messages:
Jan 15 18:56:46 ultra20 genunix: [ID 335743 kern.notice] BAD TRAP: type=e (#pf P
age fault) rp=d4d7fcec addr=18 occurred in module "scsa1394" due to a NULL point

i hesitate to reinstall old version.

Thanks in advance for help,

There was a problem with 158 where we would get undefined symbol
errors, different from your problem but I reckon it's related.

Back in May the response was "...this problem will be solved shortly."

Nothing new yet as far as I know. I still have 156 which seems to
work okay.

Go ahead and install it. I just did today and didn't get any of the problems I
had before.

One new problem though is that when running osstest the machine locks
doing the /dev/dsp2 (S/PDIF) test. In the past it would test silently.
