Unable to set device /dev/dsp in non blocking mode: Invalid

I run FreeBSD 6-STABLE with OSS/FreeBSD 3.99.4b

OSS drivers work great with test and XMMS, however
trying to play sound with GStreamer 0.10.9 produces such error:

That's because /dev/dsp is probably already openend by esd (look at the history). You should try something like

rm /dev/dsp; ln -s /dev/dsp2 /dev/dsp and now let esd open /dev/dsp3 or some other device (edit /etc/esd.conf and set the -d /dev/dsp3) and now see if this works.

Oh no, this is not the case. I know that two applicatios cannot open the same device, this would return EBUSY, and not EINVAL. The esd in history was killed before my tests.
I tried the configuration with dsp linked to dsp2 and gstreamer reported:
Unable to set device /dev/dsp2 in non blocking mode: Invalid argument

The gstreamer code which does this is contained in gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.3 in osssink module:

Hi,

You don't need O_Nonblock with OSS. Kindly read our OSS programmers' manuals at:

http://manuals.opensound.com/developer/open.html

Most programmers have misunderstood nonblocking opens!

We recommend that you delete the O_NONBLOCK from the open and also remove the fcntl() call.

I have seen what is in the faq about non blocking modes.. I even deleted the fcntl, as You said, but there were a lots of noise then. There should be some additional select then, not sure. I'll post a pr to gstreamer developers.
