OSS 4.0 b1012 on Solaris Nevada 77, no right channel...

Postby hakimoto » Sun Jan 13, 2008 4:26 pm

Hi,

I upgraded from b1004 to b1012 and have no more right channel output. osstest produces output only on the left speaker. Also, when I run ossxmix, I am presented with controls for vmix1. Before it looked different and had controls for vmix0. When I now play music in xmms, I get no level display in ossxmix at all...

Can anyone advise on how to get stereo sound and normal controls back? (And well, if all else fails, then I guess a downgrade to b1004 will have to do cos that worked swell...)

Output from ossinfo:

Does osstest attempt to play right channel and both?
Are there any errors in printed output of osstest?
regards

check your speakers - I have an ALC882 device in my desktop and it works just fine. Also make sure that there's no mixer.save in /etc/oss directory.

It is indeed a hardware problem (when I press down on part of the laptop's casing, just next to the left speaker, then the right speaker works too). Well, guess I'm gonna have to open the darn thing up again... thanks anyway!

Would still be interested to know why my vmix0 is a vmix1 now... thanks!
